Milena Gligić
Milena Gligić is a Los Angeles-based pianist, vocalist, and vocal coach originally from Belgrade, Serbia. Known for her work in opera, classical, and contemporary music, she holds a Doctorate in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland and has a wide-ranging career performing and coaching across the United States.
Gligić is an alumna of the Young Artist Program at the Los Angeles Opera. There, she has worked as a pianist on mainstage productions under the guidance of James Conlon and Placido Domingo. She coaches vocalists, specializing in repertoire in various languages, at the California Institute of the Arts and has held a Lecturer position as an opera coach at UCLA from 2022-2025. Gligić has played for large theater productions with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Opera Project and The Industry Opera, collaborating with the artists of the highest caliber: Gustavo Dudamel, Esa Pekka-Salonen, Michael Tilson Thomas, Simon BcBurney, Yuval Sharon, Thomas Ades, Meredith Monk, Josh Shaw, David Bloom, Paolo Bortolameolli, etc.
Since 2012, she has been the core pianist for the Contemporaneous Ensemble, premiering numerous works at venues such as Carnegie Hall, National Sawdust and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Their performance of Dylan Mattingly’s colossal opera STRANGER LOVE was named one of the best classical music performances of 2023 by the New York Times.
Gligić is a professional singer with years of choral and solo experience. She often sings with the LA Master Chorale at Walt Disney Concert Hall and at the Hollywood Bowl. From 2016-2024 she was a regular member of St. James in the City and is featured as an alto soloist on their 2018 album: O Beauty, Ever Ancient, Ever New. As a mezzo-soprano, she premiered the title role of a musical MEDUSA by Kentaro Kameyama, with the Deaf West Theater, she sang the role of La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with the Angeles Vocal Arts Festival and premiered the role of Sancho Panza in Dulcinea XL opera by Juan Carlos Colomer, with the LA Grand Ensemble in Zipper Hall.
As a recording artist, she is featured on several albums as a pianist: Halloween Tales of Gore and Folklore with mezzo-soprano Danielle Marcelle-Bond (2023), Emily by Scott Bradley Joiner with soprano Jessica Fishenfeld (2024) and Resonant Bodies with Julia Bullock (2021). In 2023, she debuted as a singer-songwriter with her single "Daredevil". She is preparing a release of several other songs written throughout her career.
